Hardy Hybrids

x weyeriana an introduction

Fourteen B. x weyeriana (yellow flowered) cultivars are currently or have been listed on the web at sometime. To remove all confusion, I would suggest or I’m prepared to say there are only three actual cultivars.

B. x weyeriana ‘Golden Glow’

B. x weyeriana ‘Moonlight’

B. x weyeriana ‘Sungold’

These are all distinctly different, although there may be very slight differences in colour due to different soil or climatic conditions, these differences are certainly not enough to create a new named cultivar.

B. x weyeriana

B. x weyeriana ‘Beech Park’

B. x weyeriana ‘Elstead Hybrid’ is another obscure cultivar of undocumented origin

B. x weyeriana ‘Golden Tassles’

B. x weyeriana ‘Golden Sovereign’ undocumented origin

B. x weyeriana ‘Hocus Pocus’ A brand new and rare introduction with fragrant yellow blooms, each with an orange heart, emerging from lilac buds

B. x weyeriana ‘Honeycomb’ is another pure yellow cultivar very much like ‘Sungold’ and may actually be ‘Sungold’

B. x weyeriana ‘Lady de Ramsey’ is one of the older English weyeriana cultivars, of undocumented origin

B. x weyeriana ‘Liberty’

B. x weyeriana ‘Trewithen’ cultivar, of undocumented origin

B. x weyeriana ‘Wattle Bird’ has been erroneously identified as a cultivar of Buddleja × weyeriana in some treatises, Buddleja madagascariensis × Buddleja asiatica
