Buddleja davidi

Border Beauty

B. ‘Border Beauty has wonderful deep pink purplish flowers with a yellow eye against dark green leaves and distinctive dark-red stems and is worthy of a place in any garden.

History

B. ‘Border Beauty’ was raised by a Dutch nurseryman Henry Schiphorst at Wageningen in 1962.

  • Flower Colour: Rich purple pink
  • Habit: Upright
  • Eventual height: 150-200cm (5-6ft) Spread: 120-150cm (4-5ft)
  • Hardiness: Very hardy - 20°C USDA zones 5-9
  • Leaf colour: Medium dark green
  • Flowering: Very floriferous. The flowers are 10-15cm (4-6") in length
  • Fragrance: Sweetly scented and rich in nectar
  • Situation: Prefers a sunny position
  • Wildlife: Good for bees, butterflies and other insects

AWARD OF GARDEN MERIT

15 Buddleja were awarded an AGM  at the 2008-10 Wisley Trial.  It was mainly the  Buddleja davidii that were judged but we have many others in our 160+ collection which are worthy winners.
